5 Days Marrakech to Merzouga Desert

Embark on a memorable journey to experience Berber culture, traverse the Atlas Mountains, and sleep in Morocco's highest dunes, while enjoying camel rides at dusk through the captivating desert.


Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech

Our staff will be responsible for picking up passengers at the airport and transferring them to the hotel. Free time to have a first contact with the city. Dinner (not included). Accommodation in Marrakech. (On the first day, you can arrive at any time)

 

Day 2: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Dades Gorges

Breakfast. Departure to begin the journey to the Sahara Desert. We will cross the High Atlas Mountains (2,260m) where we will have several stops to enjoy the wonderful panoramic views. We will continue to the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a Berber fortress considered the most beautiful in the country and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Many movies were filmed here such as Game of Thrones, Prince of Persia, Jesus of Nazareth, and Gladiator. Here we will have lunch (not included). We will continue along the Road of the Thousand Kasbahs passing through Berber villages to reach our destination, the Dades Valley. Dinner and accommodation included.

 

Day 3: Dades Gorges – Todra Gorges – SAHARA DESERT

Breakfast. Departure to the Todra Gorges, known for being one of the most imposing rocky canyons in the country with over 300 meters in height. We will continue our journey until we reach the desert where we will change our mode of transportation: camels. Thus, we will discover how the nomads have traveled over the centuries. We will stop to watch the sunset and we can do sandboarding. Upon arrival at the camp, you will be greeted with excellent mint tea and a delicious traditional Moroccan dinner. With Berber drum music, we will enjoy a unique and unforgettable night, contemplating the vastness of the sky covered with a blanket of stars that populate the desert nights. Dinner and accommodation in the camp.

 

Day 4: Sahara Desert – Atlas Mountains – Marrakech

For those who wish, you can wake up early to enjoy one of the most unforgettable events of your stay in the Sahara, the sunrise: a spectacle of light and silence that will impress its spectators. Breakfast and return to Marrakech. Arrival approximately at 19:30. Accommodation included (Dinner is not included).

*The return from the desert to Marrakech can be done by flight departing only on Fridays and Sundays, check with our agent.

 

Day 5: Marrakech

Breakfast. In the morning (between 9 am – 1 pm) we will have a guided tour to explore the city of Marrakech. We will start with the Koutoubia Minaret (13th century), sister of the Giralda in Seville, which is currently the lighthouse and spiritual center of Marrakech. Later, we will visit the Bahia Palace (16th century), a symbol of aristocratic life in medieval Muslim society, where its ambassador’s hall stands out, with its cedar wood ceiling. Then we will head to the “Jemaa el Fna” Square declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site (starts around 09:00 and ends at 13:00).

At the indicated time, our staff will be responsible for transferring passengers to Marrakech airport. End of our trip services (2 hours before the flight)
