Day 1: Fez – Ifrane – Azrou (Monkey Forest) – Merzouga Desert
Departing from the spiritual capital of Fez, we journey across the scenic Middle Atlas Mountains. Our first stop is Ifrane, often referred to as the "Switzerland of Africa" for its unique architecture and alpine atmosphere. We then visit the ancient Cedar Forests of Azrou, home to the famous Barbary macaques. After a drive through the lush Ziz Valley and the fossil-rich town of Erfoud, we reach the golden dunes of Merzouga.
Day 2: Merzouga Desert – Nomadic Life & 4x4 Adventure
Experience the magic of a Sahara sunrise over the dunes before breakfast. Today is dedicated to desert exploration in a 4x4 vehicle. We’ll visit the village of Khamlia to immerse ourselves in the soulful rhythms of Gnawa music performed by local masters. Our adventure continues along the historic tracks of the Paris-Dakar Rally, leading us to a breathtaking panoramic viewpoint of the Erg Chebbi dunes. We’ll also visit a Nomad family to share a cup of tea and gain insight into their traditional
way of life.
Day 3: Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley – Ouarzazate
Leaving the desert behind, we travel toward Tinghir to explore the magnificent Todra Gorges, where limestone cliffs reach heights of 300 meters. After lunch amidst the palms, we journey through the Valley of Roses and the authentic Berber village of Boutghrar, where we’ll enjoy tea with a local family. We will traverse the "Road of a Thousand Kasbahs," observing nomadic cave dwellings along the way. Before reaching Ouarzazate, we stop at the historic Kasbah Amredil in Skoura.
Day 4: Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Telouet – Marrakech
Our final day begins with a visit to the world-renowned Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO-listed fortified village that served as the backdrop for cinema classics like Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia. We then explore the hidden gem of Telouet Kasbah, a former palatial residence of the Glaoui family. Finally, we cross the High Atlas Mountains via the winding Tizi n’Tichka pass (2,260m).
